BECALMED

The sails billowed in the cold wind, surging the ship forward while waves crested in every direction. The captain kept a sharp eye to his crew calling orders to the first mate, who harried each sailor with the ferocity of a tiger. The only justification was to maintain a steady course north to Iceland.  The bow moved this way and that putting each man to the test.  The wind changed direction and force. The men worked tirelessly as the ship continued cutting its way up waves then heaving down all the   time pushing the ship through the dark, aqua ominous depths. The captain strained his eyes attempting to see beyond the rise of each wave.  He had stood at the helm many a year, but seldom had he been pushed to his limits of endurance.   time had been their enemy   it had taken its toll, together they had fought the wind and the sea for five unrelenting days with their muscles almost ripping from their bodies.   The skies   grew red like the flames of hell and the wind dropped to an ominous but eerie calm while a mist seemed to come upon the sea.  men feel exhausted   to their knees, but   their short-lived relief turned to fear for the stillness seemed peculiar.  Resting they drifted on the sea when a sailor cried out that the devil had boarded the ship and each man took fright.   The captain called out arrest any man who doesn’t stand his station.  In that moment a wave rose high and the captain said it was the eye of the storm look to the sails.  His voice was stern and confident. The air began to stir, and his dark hair blew across his face.    echoes seemed to burn through his brain and voice cried ‘come to hell’.                                                                                                                                                                         HHorror gripped   every man on board as an iceberg seemed to loom from the sea. The sound of cracking wood brought sharp slivers of ice through the upper deck. the crew and   the captain stood shocked then came endless screaming from below deck.   Sinking, water swallowed the vessel and   men struggled to life boats but to no avail, no time water washed everyone from the deck and those below never saw the surface again.   Men flailed legs and arms attempting to swim and hands reached toward the sky. Down they went icy depths and then silence and calm.                       on   the 4 the January 1750   eight   days   after leaving   England the London times noted a missing vessel bound for Iceland vanished without trace with all hands-on board.

The witch of Allenhdoor had taken the castle with her dwarf armies. Small men with ferocious wolves. A murder of ravens the sky black with her forces. They swooped in to first pecked the eyes from the kings men, who defended the walls. Then came the wolves to rip their throats and the job half done it only required a dwarf man to slice the heads from their bodies. Blood ran like water and her small dragons from the Island of Pagoda finished off the morsels. The dragon master was reptilian in appearance some say he was born of the incestuous love of reptiles. The witch of Allenhdoor wore white so beautiful she sparkled and shone like a dazzling moon beam. She was in appearance innocent evil men fell at her feet. But she had no lover she would never know love. Such was her chastity such was her fate. Their was only one love and she dared not whisper his name lest the devil heard it. He was brave handsome dark eyes dark hair and love surrounded him in a blue light which shone from his armor. He rode a great steed and she grew weak when she whispered his name silently on the breeze. He did not love her and she had grown sad and so she took the castle of a goodly king and locked his daughter in the dungeon. She thought the dragons might like a princess for dinner or maybe the spiders could cocoon her, For the moment she lived and the witch enjoyed the crawling creatures. What would happen would the knight come to rescue the princess???? next episode we shall discover. spiders and snakes joined in games of climbing castle walls going up the briar’s and the blood red roses. while the ravens sat and ate the lady bugs. The wolves slept and the dragons finished their feast. The sun rose to a reddened sky all quiet in the castle. The slithering creatures lay silent their poison to deliver to any moving thing. No one saw the shadow moving it crept up the roses and passed over the wall. It stepped across the sleeping dragons and silently moved down the stairs to that place of torture. She saw the shadow she knew hope. Suddenly a ray of light from a candle on the stair a shine so bright the shadow disappeared. The light grew brighter as the witch stepped closer to the cell, She smiles to see the dread in the eyes that looked back. She laughed and turned away and the light shut the door behind her. closed doors bar the escape she sat in silence she wondered where had the shadow gone? Maybe she never saw the shadow, maybe she dreamed the shadow into life. She sat now with out any more illusion. The princess was imprisoned and feared that death would come here in this cold grey doom. Maybe the light of the moon would never be seen again. Maybe this was the happy ending to see only the black of space. no star to dement the mind, no light to hope without cause. Just empty skies to give peace of spirit. To accept the void, to sit in the void. The Keep became her home the witch moved the prisoner to the keep and there she watched the stars and heaven seemed closer than ever before. The moon shone and the days were long but breezes blew all manner of dreams in to her little world. The roses could be seen and smelt ,there was a bed to lay upon and books to read. She looked across the fields and in winter they were white and in summer green . One day she was sitting reading and she looked at her shadow. She knew she was not alone. At night he was always in her dreams. The wicked Queen grew ever more powerful and hope faded. Many in the castle believed this to be wrong that the dearest lady was in the castle keep. It was not long before a stranger came into her life a rider came to the castle he was dark and brutish. He walked wit his sword no one bothered such a powerful looking man the snakes hid the dragons slept and the queen watched from her window. Many were in the castle this day. The princess looked down as he looked up and their eyes saw a friend in each other. He did not know how but this stranger wanted to help the girl. He went to the queen and saw her beauty. He was a determined man, a strong man but the queen was far to caught in the gaze of the knight ,the shadow. This man was not to be undone so he set a plan of rescue. He took great heart and crept to the keep killing snakes and dragons as he went and several guards lost their lives. He would not risk the front gate rather they would jump to the ocean below. Fro the castle sat on the edge of the sea. Rocks jutted out he knew he could jump the distance. He would throw the princess from the keep and pray she would survive it. So he did he took her hand and he swung her around and hurled her as far as his strength would allow. He saw her hit the water and he ran and jumped as far out as he could. They were both in the water and swam to the shore. Horses waited and they travelled far from the castle to the sands of the desert. They travelled the old silk road to a new life in the exotic east a place of wonder and beauty. She only sometimes remembered her love of the shadow but every time she remembered him a tear ran down her cheek. love never lost its pain. Life however did go on but never quite the same. The end

The game of love where golden hearts do bleed. They are pure and kind but love is not. That girl is made from love for love But no love exists and she is tied to duty Oh Ophelia the time has past Look to thy self for love exists only in fairy tales My quest is to write a tale of woe a tale of unrequited love I have flirted with life and harmed many of this I am sad If innocence is a defense then I am innocent I played at life I dreamed too often I touched a soul without ever having lived in reality Do you begrudge me my dreams Do you wish me less if this be true then I am guilty and forever punished Let there be loving souls and forgiving hearts for those to dared to dream Take this as my redemption from love

The golden game of love

LOVE AT MIDNIGHT

Did you see the moon come closer please come closer

The day was cool and breezes blew my mind was consumed by one face ,one image. I have been told of obsession and how bad that is but my mind wanders in dark places. Obviously im told you have mental health issues or problems from untold youth. Do I believe well one can be told all things and begin to believe therapy is your most happy outcome. Indeed it has helped my coping skills and level of happiness. But the image is still adorable and the face still haunting so maybe the therapy while good has ultimately failed. Hope is now gone maybe that is a good resolve but love remains without hope. Love at midnight a perfect imperfection an innocent evil without any wounds what say ye of love unrequited but still adored. So I watch the moon alone and see the sun alone its a perfection of self and I have held my own hand in the midnight hours so it is a love as black as the night.

Magic

LOVE IS THE BEST MAGIC

Faeries and Elves

These magical creatures have mesmerised humans for centuries and the magical world of fairies and elves offers inspiration to children and adults of all cultures. Magical creatures have been the basis of movies, art and books, giving pleasure to all as tales are passed down from generation to generation. Fairy and elf energy can still be called upon, bringing into your life endless possibilities, opening the doorway between the fairy, elf and human realm. Fairies are found in the mortal world, at times in people’s homes, near lakes and trees in the forest, mostly fairies reside in the fairy realm. Elves and fairies have supernatural powers, allowing them to move through space and change their shape into any form they choose and while in the fairy realm, elves and fairies are immortal. The fairy realm is also referred to as Avalon, the Land of the Blessed Tir-na-n-Og (country of the young) and the Otherworld. The difference between elves, fairies and humans, is that humans gain meaning within the material and physical world. Elfin and fairy energy is rooted in the Otherworld, over the centuries the worlds have become more separate. Be assured the more fairy energy you allow into your life the more magic there will be.

Created before humans, elves possess supernatural powers, they are nature spirits, usually found in forest settings and woodlands. Fairies were the ancient creatures of Ireland, they evolved into various types of fairies. Different types of fairies behave in different ways, some benevolent, others malevolent. When interacting with fairies it is important to know what kind of fairy you are dealing with. Fairies possess supernatural powers, some use their powers for good others for evil, always tread carefully when interacting with fairies as they expect to be treated with reverence. All fairies reside in the fairy realm, humans visit this realm on occasion, at times by accident, sometimes by invitation and other times by sheer determination and diligence. These nature spirits are all around you, be aware, they repay kindness with kindness and bad behaviour with bad behaviour, where elves and fairies are concerned you get what you give tenfold.

In order to draw fairy energy into your life, find your favorite place to meditate and call upon the Seven fairy Guardians, Star Finder – fairy Watcher of the east, Shining Flame – fairy Watcher of Faeries and Elvesthe south, Water Maker – fairy Watcher of the west, Black Mother – fairy Watcher of the north, Heaven Shiner, Fire in the Earth and Star Goddess. You can say their names out loud before you begin meditating or you can say them silently in your mind. When you meditate with these beautiful energies, you can’t help but feel uplifted when you connect with the Otherworld. If you want to connect to the fairy world, you will find the portals are at their most accessible on the eves of Beltane, Midsummer and Halloween, this is when you have the greatest opportunity to commune with these magical creatures and walk between the mortal world and the Otherworld. Go outside into the night, be near trees, plants, flowers, look at the Moon and the stars, create a mound of earth and place a spring of thyme on top and seven small crystals, the seven crystals represent the Seven fairy Guardians. Breathe deeply seven times, turn around clockwise seven times, then call the names of the Seven fairy Guardians, hold out both arms with palms facing upwards and wait for the fairy energy to fill you.

There are certain fairy fragrant essences you can use in the form of essential oils, incense and candles. All elves and fairies love amber, which can also be used for psychic enhancement. Basil is for good luck, it heals wounds and promotes love and romance. Cedarwood is considered sacred and a special favorite of the forest elves and woodland fairies. Chamomile attracts fairies and a few drops on a pillowcase will ensure sweet magical dreams. Geranium oil is a special favorite of garden fairies and geranium oil is especially useful for healing and abundance. Honeysuckle is intoxicating to flower and woodland fairies, causing them to dance and sing. Before a fairy meditation, anoint yourself in geranium oil, it will draw love, romance and passion. Jasmine draws woodland elves and fairies, lavender promotes fairy dreams and heals, to ensure fairy dreams dot a little jasmine on your pillow before going to sleep. Lemon draws fruit fairies and encourages happiness, joy, fun and pleasure. Neroli can be used on your body, bedding, in your bath, in an oil burner, it draws flower and tree fairies to you. Patchouli attracts woodland elves and fairies, it enhances love and fairy encounters. Pine attracts tree fairies and forest elves, it enhances creativity, strength and love. fairies love rose essence, it attracts flower, garden and woodland elves and fairies. Use on your temples to enhance psychic abilities and light some before fairy meditation. Rose essence promotes love, heightens all senses, fosters joy and luck. Sandalwood attracts woodland elves and fairies, it enhances spiritual meditation, shape shifting and healing. Ylang-ylang, attracts flower and garden fairies and elves, it promotes passion, abundance and love. Elves and fairies are adept in the art of using herbs and essences.

The fairy and elf realm is carefully hidden, yet available to humans when most needed. There are certain times of year when the veil between worlds is finer and more accessible. It is easier to communicate with fairies and elves during a full Moon, especially during Halloween. Time in the immortal world of fairies and elves is quite different to time in the mortal world. Humans visit the enchanted world and what seems like a short time to them may in actual fact be years, fairies and elves often visit the human world. Children are more likely than adults to catch sight of these glorious nature spirits. Fairy energy influences the lives of mortals, love, health wellbeing and prosperity.

Everyone sees fairies at one time or another, the flash of light in the corner of your eye, the sense someone is behind you and when you turn there is no-one there or you walk into a room and feel as though someone is there. When you wake in the morning or during the night and almost see something in that momentary space between waking and sleeping. When you have a strange sensation, sometimes accompanied by a tingling up and down the spine, you can be certain you have touched upon the fairy realm.

Norse mythology describes light and dark elves, the light elves lived above in the world of Alfheim, they glowed with light energy and were helpers of mortals. The dark elves (dwarves) lived in the underworld of Svartalfheim. These elves were bad tempered and did not like humans very much, they were very unfriendly to any mortals who were unlucky enough to encounter them. Light elves love the sunlight and live in the upper world, while dark elves (dwarves) live underground in the darkness.

There are many varieties of elves there are woodland elves, fire elves, gray elves, green elves, blue elves, gold elves, silver elves, high elves, lowland elves, river elves, sea elves, hill elves, forest elves, blessed elves, mountain elves, wind elves and meadow elves. Elves like to live in groups, you will rarely find a solitary elf, they are very social and when the opportunity arises they will be friendly towards mortals. Elves are very protective towards nature and the Earth, and they want humans to take more care of the Earth and become more in touch with nature. Those who believe in fairies and are on the lookout for them, will often hear the fairy music which plays through the night while the fairies dance until dawn.

Just like fairies, elves can be either friendly or unfriendly, all elves are nature lovers, blending into the environment naturally becoming at one with the Earth. Elves communicate with each other telepathically, they do not age but can be hurt and killed if someone wishes them harm. Elves are quite mysterious creatures, they like to dance and can be very playful and have a certain dynamic that can draw mortals to them. Dusk is the time to see elves, you will find them in the forest at dusk, they love the Moon and celebrate when the Moon rises.

fairy magic reaches us in weird and wonderful ways, treated with respect and kindness they are benevolent creatures, if treated badly they can be the most malevolent creatures. All fairies have the power to change their shape, shape shifting is a handy tool if they are being pursued or have been captured and want to escape their bonds. Because fairies are shape shifters they can appear in any form they choose, they can appear as a glowing mist or a light. Water elves appear as green and blue, while woodland fairies are green and brown, wood elves are fair skinned with dark brown hair, while the Selkies have black eyes and long blue black hair, they are very slender and shimmer silver. Some elves and fairies live in groups and are quite social, while others are solitary and prefer to be left alone.

Elves and fairies are gifted illusionists, they can appear old, young, big, small, they play beautiful music and have exquisite magical singing voices that transfix the listener. They are capable of seeing through the Earth, those who live in groups travel together and Elvin or fairy groups vary in size, ranging from very large or no more than half a dozen. If an elf or fairy is angered they can be quite mean, if they witness an act of kindness they can be the most benevolent creatures on the face of the Earth. All fairies love to dance and play games, they also have a great sense of fun and can’t resist playing practical jokes on each other and on humans.

Elves, trolls and dwarves are all considered part of the fairy world in modern culture, whereas ancient beliefs deemed fairies to be apart from all other creatures. There are many varieties of fairies which include, water fairies – water sprites, selkies, alvens, amnwn, sirens and nymphs. Forest fairies – corrigans, dryads, oakman and sidhe draoi. Household fairies – Billy Blin, brownies, hobgoblins, kobolds, pixies and redcaps. Brownies are a type of house elf or fairy that inhabits people’s homes, they complete unfinished jobs, look after household pets, they bring good luck to a home. A word of warning, make sure you don’t offend them or chaos will ensue, tread very carefully, they are extremely touchy, treat them with care and consideration.

Dryads are earth fairies and are particularly beautiful fairies, tall and slender, they have an intricate pattern down one side of their body, representing the parent (mother tree), their hair is shaded Faeries and Elvesgreen, brown and copper, with streaks of white and gold, it is magnificent, very long often extending to their ankles and wild. They are known as nymphs of the forest. All elves and fairies have a connection with the earth with most fairies being earth fairies. They can generally be found in the most private and remote places, glens, fruit orchids, forests, gardens, berry patches, caves, mines, rock outcroppings, fields, meadows, thickets and monoliths. Types of earth fairies are, gnomes, trows, elves, dryads, green men and women, nappees, spriggins, buccas and pillywiggins.

The winged fairies are the air fairies and considered to be the messengers between the mortal and the Otherworld, they are lighter than air, they move between the mundane and the divine. Dragonflies, hummingbirds and butterflies are air fairies, eagles, owls, swans and ravens are said to be the closest birds to the fairy realm.  Winged fairies generally give humans a wide birth, although you can be assured of seeing one if there is a special message meant for you. Fairy wings are made of energy, light and magic, they represent ethereal forces flowing through the fairy bodies. Types of air fairies, ganconers, sylphs, ganconaughs, seelis and corrigans.

Fire fairies come in two forms, the fire sprites who give off light and fire fairies, magical creatures related to dragons, they derive their magical power from the fire. They look like sparks of light travelling through the night. These fairies are not hot like fire, they are like a shining red light glowing, their light is considered divine. Types of fire fairies, salamanders, fire drakes, fire sprites, shining ones, fire feys, drakes, drachen and draks.

Water fairies are called kelpies and sirens, sirens capture lovers by singing to them and drawing love towards them. Once the lover is captured they are dragged down into the depths of the ocean where they die. Water fairies often take the shape of swans, because swans are able to fly through the sky and swim in the water, they have the ability to connect the water element with the air element. Undines are known as water elven, they live in crystal palaces in the deepest lakes. Water sprites move from one world to the other and when on land shape shift into tiny red cattle with no horns. Types of water fairies, mermaids, alvens, mermen and water sprites.

All fairies are shape shifters and the largest number of fairies are earth fairies, air fairies are found in the wind and the breeze, wherever there is heat and light you will find fire fairies, within rain, snow, the morning dew, any body of water and hail, you will find water fairies. By connecting with the four elements you will be able to get in touch with the different types of fairy energies and the best time to commune with fairy energy is when the veil between the mortal and fairy world is the finest, this is between dusk and dawn.

Faiiries have a generally mischievous energy and love to play tricks on humans, especially if the human is greedy and places great importance on acquisitions. Fairies often take items belonging to a human and hide it away for a time, giggling as they watch the person searching for it. When a significant amount of time has gone by, they return the item to the exact place they first found it. And if someone is unkind or grumpy or treats someone unkindly, a fairy will spill something on their clothes, turn the light out when they are reading, hide their reading glasses, turn the hot water off when they are showering, hide their keys, pinch one sock or hide one shoe. Their greatest fun is had watching the frustration of a grumpy, clueless human, searching for a lost item or wondering where the mark on their clean outfit came from.

How often have you found your jewellery all tangled after you left it neatly arranged, your new car battery goes flat, your wallet carefully left in your wardrobe is missing and where on earth is the remote control? If you can see the humour in these annoying instances, the fairies will warm to you and feel more kindly disposed towards you.

Pixies are particularly capricious and love teasing travellers, hiding their travellers cheques, maps, suitcase keys, airline tickets, they have even been known to change hotel bookings so that when you arrive the staff are not expecting you. Have you ever taken a long drive, had a picnic and been unable to find your car keys when it is time to return home? And they find it even funnier if two people start to argue, when one is adamant they made the booking and the other person doesn’t believe them. And on those days where everything goes wrong no matter what you do, be assured a fairy is in close proximity.

All fairies have a childlike energy which is why humans feel so good around them and enjoy their energy. fairies are drawn to positive loving energies and offended by unpleasant people and loud noises. All fairies are luminescent and all fairies get a kick out of teasing humans.

Fairies reside happily in the Otherworld, in this place they are comfortable, safe, carefree and able to practice their magic. Gnomes prefer to live in the earth under oak trees, liking dense forests, some fairies can also be found in these habitats. The original fairies are the Sidhe, the word means hills and fairy, they lived in the hills. The dark elves are most comfortable in the lower world, living underground. The light elves are most comfortable in the upper world, while all elves and fairies are drawn to every aspect of nature. Leprechauns prefer to make their homes in abandoned burrows, hollow trees, caves with openings that are hidden by bushes and trees. Leprechauns like to inhabit places that do not draw attention to them, allowing them to blend into their environment thus remaining apart from humans.

To attract elves and fairies to you, pay attention to your garden, they love flowers, plants and trees. They also love water features and fish ponds and when they are near you will have a sense of wellbeing and happiness, providing of course you treat them with kindness. They will help you to attain your personal and professional goals, maintain your health, attract abundance, awaken spiritually and have greater understanding of all there is. If you don’t treat them with the deference they expect, be assured there will be mayhem in your life, you won’t be able to do right for doing wrong and you will never find your car keys.

The correct way to refer to these magical creatures is “the good folk,” or “the gentry,” they actually prefer to initiate contact with humans. They love music, celebrations, dancing, gifts and they especially like gifts of fresh food and drink. The more flowers you have planted in your garden the more likely you are to attract butterflies, hummingbirds and dragonflies, this will be a magnet for elves and fairies. Follow tradition and give your first and last piece of fruit to the elves and fairies as a gift, they like to be recognised for their efforts in controlling crops. When you leave your gifts out for the elves and fairies, speak out loud to them, letting them know you are sincere in your offering. The magical creatures absorb the essence of the food, so when you find it the next day, bury it immediately. The favorite food of elves and fairies is fresh milk, butter, fruit, vegetables, bread, cake, quality mead or brew. The best way to attract elves and fairies is to treat them with consideration and respect, give out the energy you expect to receive, positive loving energy will be reciprocated.

Whether you are aware or not, the world of elves and fairies is around you, and the more tuned in you become to the possibility of elf and fairy energy the more likely you are to feel it. That little prickle on the back of your neck, the disappearing sock in the washing machine, the book you know you left on the bed. The urge to turn around because you think there is someone behind you, something you see out of the corner of your eye when you are looking in the mirror. The feeling there is someone reading over your shoulder, causing you to turn around and look just in case. The voice that whispers to you telling you that you left the tap on, or forgot to lock the front door, the urge to look under the bed just in case. The sense someone touched your hair, your cheek, your hand, the urge to open the front door because you sense someone is there. Next time this happens open your eyes, your heart, your spirit, you may find yourself face to face with a fairy.

History

HISTORY HAS SO MUCH TO TEACH US THE CRAZY IDEAS THAT LEAD TO RELIGIONS EMPIRES AND WAR.  PLEASE ALSO REMEMBER THE MODERN WORLD IS NOT THE DEFINING COSMIC COMPLETION AND WE ARE NOT THE BEST LOOK BACK AND REDEFINE NOT IGNOR.

Syria

The modern history of Syria begins with the termination of Ottoman control of Syria by French forces and the establishment of the Occupied Enemy Territory Administration during World War I. The short-lived Arab Kingdom of Syria emerged in 1920, which was however soon committed under the French Mandate, which produced the short-lived autonomous State of AleppoState of Damascus (later State of Syria (1924–30)), Alawite State and Jabal al-Druze (state); the autonomies were transformed into the Mandatory Syrian Republic in 1930. Syrian Republic gained independence in April 1946. The Republic took part in the Arab-Israeli War and remained in a state of political instability during the 1950s and 1960s.

The 8 March 1963 coup resulted in the installation of the National Council for the Revolutionary Command (NCRC), a group of military and civilian officials who assumed control of all executive and legislative authority. The takeover was engineered by members of the Ba’ath Party led by Michel Aflaq and Salah al-Din al-Bitar. He was overthrown in early 1966 by Marxist-Leninist military dissidents of the party led by General Salah Jadid. Since the Arab Spring of 2011, Bashar al-Assad‘s government has been involved in the ongoing Syrian civil war.

Truth and dishonor are more often the norm but the code is a guide for men of honor to aim to achieve

The Norsemen (or Norse people) were a North Germanic ethnolinguistic group of the Early Middle Ages, during which they spoke the Old Norse language.[1][2][3][4] The language belongs to the North Germanic branch of the Indo-European languages and is the predecessor of the modern Germanic languages of Scandinavia.[4] During the late eighth century, Scandinavians embarked on a large-scale expansion in all directions, giving rise to the Viking Age. In English-language scholarship since the 19th century, Norse seafaring traders, settlers and warriors have commonly been referred to as Vikings. Historians of Anglo-Saxon England distinguish between Norse Vikings (Norsemen) from Norway who mainly invaded and occupied the islands north and north-west of Britain, Ireland and western Britain, and Danish Vikings, who principally invaded and occupied eastern Britain.[a]

The identity of Norsemen derived into their modern descendants,[5] the DanesIcelanders,[b] Faroe Islanders,[b] Norwegians, and Swedes,[6] who are now generally referred to as ‘Scandinavians‘ rather than Norsemen.[7

History of the terms Norseman

The word Norseman first appears in English during the early 19th century: the earliest attestation given in the third edition of the Oxford English Dictionary is from Walter Scott‘s 1817 Harold the Dauntless. The word was coined using the adjective norse, which was borrowed into English from Dutch during the 16th century with the sense ‘Norwegian’, and which by Scott’s time had acquired the sense “of or relating to Scandinavia or its language, esp[ecially] in ancient or medieval times”.[8] As with modern use of the word viking, therefore, the word norseman has no particular basis in medieval usage.[9]

The term Norseman does echo terms meaning ‘Northman’, applied to Norse-speakers by the peoples they encountered during the Middle Ages.[10] The Old Frankish word Nortmann (“Northman”) was Latinised as Normannus and was widely used in Latin texts. The Latin word Normannus then entered Old French as Normands. From this word came the name of the Normans and of Normandy, which was settled by Norsemen in the tenth century.[11][12]

The same word entered Hispanic languages and local varieties of Latin with forms beginning not only in n-, but in l-, such as lordomanni (apparently reflecting nasal dissimilation in local Romance languages).[13] This form may in turn have been borrowed into Arabic: the prominent early Arabic source al-Mas‘ūdī identified the 844 raiders on Seville not only as Rūs but also al-lawdh’āna.[14]

The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, written in Old English, distinguishes between the pagan Norwegian Norsemen (Norðmannum) of Dublin and the Christian Danes (Dæne) of the Danelaw. In 942, it records the victory of King Edmund I over the Norse kings of York: “The Danes were previously subjected by force under the Norsemen, for a long time in bonds of captivity to the heathens”.[15][16][17]

Other names

Norse clothes.

In modern scholarship, Vikings is a common term for attacking Norsemen, especially in connection with raids and monastic plundering by Norsemen in the British Isles, but it was not used in this sense at the time. In Old Norse and Old English, the word simply meant ‘pirate’.[18][19][20]

The Norse were also known as Ascomanniashmen, by the Germans, Lochlanach (Norse) by the Gaels and Dene (Danes) by the Anglo-Saxons.[21]

The Gaelic terms Finn-Gall (Norwegian Viking or Norwegian), Dubh-Gall (Danish Viking or Danish) and Gall Goidel (foreign Gaelic) were used for the people of Norse descent in Ireland and Scotland, who assimilated into the Gaelic culture.[22] Dubliners called them Ostmen, or East-people, and the name Oxmanstown (an area in central Dublin; the name is still current) comes from one of their settlements; they were also known as Lochlannaigh, or Lake-people.

The Slavs, the Arabs and the Byzantines knew them as the Rus’ or Rhōs (Ῥῶς), probably derived from various uses of rōþs-, i.e. “related to rowing”, or from the area of Roslagen in east-central Sweden, where most of the Northmen who visited the Eastern Slavic lands originated.[23]

Archaeologists and historians of today believe that these Scandinavian settlements in the East Slavic lands formed the names of the countries of Russia and Belarus.

The Slavs and the Byzantines also called them Varangians (Old NorseVæringjar, meaning “sworn men”), and the Scandinavian bodyguards of the Byzantine emperors were known as the Varangian Guard.[24]

Modern Scandinavian usage

Modern Scandinavian languages have a common word for Norsemen: the word nordbo (SwedishnordbornaDanishnordboerneNorwegiannordboerne, or nordbuane in the definite plural) is used for both ancient and modern people living in the Nordic countries and speaking one of the North Germanic languages.

In modern Scandinavian languages, the term Northman (Norwegian: Nordmann;[25] Swedish: Norrman;[26] Danish: Nordmand [27]), although originally a term for people of the entire Nordic region, is now often used to refer to people of Norwegian nationality.

Geography[edit]

Exploration and expansion routes of Norsemen

The British conception of the Vikings’ origins was inaccurate. Those who plundered Britain lived in what is today DenmarkScania, the western coast of Sweden and Norway (up to almost the 70th parallel) and along the Swedish Baltic coast up to around the 60th latitude and Lake Mälaren. They also came from the island of Gotland, Sweden. The border between the Norsemen and more southerly Germanic tribes, the Danevirke, today is located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) south of the Danish–German border. The southernmost living Vikings lived no further north than Newcastle upon Tyne, and travelled to Britain more from the east than from the north.

The northern part of the Scandinavian Peninsula (with the exception of the Norwegian coast) was almost unpopulated by the Norse, because this ecology was inhabited by the Sami, the native people of northern Sweden and large areas of Norway, Finland, and the Kola Peninsula in today’s Russia.[citation needed]

The Norse Scandinavians established polities and settlements in what are now Great Britain (EnglandScotlandWales), IrelandIcelandRussiaBelarusFranceSicilyBelgiumUkraineFinlandEstoniaLatviaLithuaniaGermanyPolandGreenlandCanada,[28] and the Faroe Islands.

Life is sometimes Love

Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (/ˈrɛmbrænt, -brɑːnt/; Dutch: [ˈrɛmbrɑnt ˈɦɑrmə (n)soːn vɑn ˈrɛin] ( listen); 15 July 1606 – 4 October 1669) was a Dutch draughtsman, painter, and printmaker. An innovative and prolific master in three media, he is generally considered one of the greatest visual artists in the history of art and …

  • Birth place: Leiden, Netherlands
  • Died: 4/10/1669
  • Born: 15/7/160
  • Commission
The painting was commissioned around 1639 by Captain Banninck Cocq and seventeen members of his Kloveniers (civic militia guards). Eighteen names appear on a shield, painted circa 1715, in the center-right background, as the hired drummer was added to the painting for free. A total of 34 characters appear in the painting. Rembrandt was paid 1,600 guilders for the painting (each person paid one hundred), a large sum at the time. This was one of a series of seven similar paintings of the militiamen (DutchSchuttersstuk) commissioned during that time from various artists. The painting was commissioned to hang in the banquet hall of the newly built Kloveniersdoelen (Musketeers’ Meeting Hall) in Amsterdam. Some have suggested that the occasion for Rembrandt’s commission and the series of other commissions given to other artists was the visit of the French queen, Marie de Medici, in 1638. Even though she was escaping from her exile from France ordered by her son Louis XIII, the queen’s arrival was met with great pageantry. There is some academic discussion as to where Rembrandt actually executed the painting. It is too large to have been completed in his studio in his house (modern address Jodenbreestraat 4, 1011 NK Amsterdam). Scholars are divided. In city records of the period, he applied to build a “summer kitchen” on the back of his house. The dimensions of this structure would have accommodated the painting over the three years it took him to paint it. Another candidate is in an adjacent church and a third possibility is actually on site.

Art is a wide range of human activities (or the products thereof) that involve creative imagination and an aim to express technical proficiency, beauty, emotional power, or conceptual ideas.[1][2][3]

There is no generally agreed definition of what constitutes art,[4][5][6] and ideas have changed over time. The three classical branches of visual art are paintingsculpture, and architecture.[7] Theatredance, and other performing arts, as well as literaturemusicfilm and other media such as interactive media, are included in a broader definition of the arts.[1][8] Until the 17th century, art referred to any skill or mastery and was not differentiated from crafts or sciences. In modern usage after the 17th century, where aesthetic considerations are paramount, the fine arts are separated and distinguished from acquired skills in general, such as the decorative or applied arts.

The nature of art and related concepts, such as creativity and interpretation, are explored in a branch of philosophy known as aesthetics.[9] The resulting artworks are studied in the professional fields of art criticism and the history of art.

Verse

                        WORD

I imagined a world of words or perhaps musical notes drifting across the skies.      To lay upon the earth and read the words of time how wise would we be to journey the words of antiquity ,how our hearts would beat .                                          But words are as our days are inclined to dust.                                                             Sensations felt alone as the universe abounds with the human word.                          Heaven and hell , wounded hearts, Celestial love  written  across the skies.                 What imaginations would we see                                                                                         Man the creator of  his realm written for all the world to see.

Temperamental fairy

Imprisonment

What punishment do you apply to yourself, how do you measure your situation. Do you rationalise and give due diligence, do you justify your decision marking the hour of your judgement..suicide or impoverishment which best suits your crime…did you know you judge your heart too cruely…give measure for measure of mercy to thy soul and thirst for  redemption..love thy heart and soul as a moment of grace would give..

Louisa jen

The hour

The hour is late or  early and the day light comes as I lay in sleepless wonder of hope..thoughts race across my mind yet another simple mood or season they say…how can there be true love if you believe no emotion is real that no heart is pure of imperfections of motive….how sad the dreamer who kills the dream with his own warped realities…be the man who creats his own heart and allows his soul to become more than a seasonal change..

My Dream

In my day’s of knowing your heart there are few.  I searched for meaning and found confusion yet did I love thee still.  In the silence I felt lost in the rejection I feel broken.  I will never be more than I am l will never be what you seek for l am not sure of myself nor brave without love l remain simplicity of thought and deed, l am just me.  My heart is pure and open my chaste body is weakness and I claim no harm to anyone as my only desire.. l claim no victory nor assume myself exulted above another..  I fail more often than succeed my looks are   extraordinarily  ordinary and my faith is hope for a better day  but hope is a fools game

Pain erased

Finally I see the light

Reality bites and the sun appears

I touched the sky and the moon

We were one or many  in that moment

I thank the stars that gave me grace

Life moves on and becomes a settled thing

Love leaves a sting

Best to say East is East and West is west

But one day meet we must

to touch and cry and then to sigh

For love so fine but unmet

To give us such a happy note

To let us both be real in the world

tears to warm my  weary days

Love will ever be

louisa

Pain is life

Tears are life

Death is life

Birth is life

tradgety is life

A smile is life

My life is extroadinary

Mostly because Im extroadinarily ordinary

Life is Pain

Life is Death.

To fly or die

Desire that  evil force that consumes my mind

Desire that  misery to my soul which  fires my heart

Better to go through life without emotion

Travel is my first love my only satisfaction

I am forced to choose flesh or fly lol

Impossible the quest god has placed upon me

Desire without satisfaction or satisfaction without desire

Then he dazzles me with  beautiful pictures

Dreams to create a storm inside my heart

This is not of all my making I scream in silence

I did not cause the moon to shine or the north winds to blow

Desert mirages to blind my mind

What did God do in his resolute plan

Quests of illusions

louisa

Respect

The past is past

no power do you hold

no less are you

no less am I

Hearts illusions gone

Dreams  are wishes

Magic a jesting thing

Emotion just a season

The rich are poor

The poor are rich

A delusion most applicable

A fantasy of fun

 Raw and Real

Poetry by louisa jen

 Loved, misunderstood and coveted

Sadly, begrudged and envied

Classified as sane and insane

Label’s, judgement and jealousy

Cruel and sad condemnation

Lost and lonely

Beautiful and benign

A delicate blend of creativity

Marilyn the movie star

Outshone the sun made the moon feel sick with envy

A Soul is a sacred thing not to be categorised and confined

The veneer was broken

The mirror cracked

The beating heart beat no more

Rivers of tears

Yet the stars still twinkle in the atmospheric

Heavens and in our imaginations

The end

To those who chose to be kind and follow me I thankyou very much

life takes different roads and Im at this moment unable to continue with my blog but I will return periodically. working on another book at the moment.

love always and thanks from me to you

have to play it again my favorite lady of shalott

The  gift

Cold hearts and dark places

Shadows adrift in the moonlight

Evil unseen with a trusting heart

Love a quest too abstract to imagine

Forgiveness and condemnation

Brought low by loves disguise

Redemption found in bible verse

The dagger unseen

Blood by my own hands

Blind intention accursed

I was in the dark

The photo

I climbed to a worthy height

I looked across the valley, snow was on the ground

A mist hung low, The air was crisp and cold

I reached a canyon ledge and waited in silence for the dawn

The sun approached in angelic rays, at the break of day

I grabbed my SLR ajusted all the settings ,shutter speed and aperture in reciprocity

I zoomed in as the raptor dived with dreaded menace ,Talons extended it clutched its prey in flight and feathers flew

A desperate screech rang out across the canyon walls .   Wings outstretched, unmitigated and muscular it soared   ,  Click and snap I had him in the raw

The vigor and the brawn captured in an instant

Kismet met with a camera box ,   A photograph is taken and time is frozen in that moment ,,   Enlightenment is intensified and amplified in shrines to history and art we savor every image.  The intrepid war photographer brought the battles home    A soldier is caught forever in an old oval ornate frame, regal and resolute he stands. His portrait hangs in a hall to glow in the setting sun

Its just a slice of his life , a moment of his time   But still the picture grabs us with nationalistic pride

Did I say that things are different now in our modern age?   Imagination and automated knowledge widens our horizons

Digital and computer technologies put us on the web

In cinema’s around the globe ,stories unwind in reels of film

Fireworks and sparkling nights of celebration ,flash and pop   A camera  and a picture can add a bit of flare… It can also add some vision and insight

put a spotlight on a subject and see the world  reflected

Can the media turn the world around  and challenge us

observation through the lens , proof of validation  it holds you there to see a fractured reality crime, waste war , save the whale , save the forest, save the planet

Take the picture and print  it !!

Lets talk about people who live a life of lies for their own gain why what do they get out of this prestige financial respect what to fool others a fine romance

just remember  to beware

Tick tok the clock

Special thanks to all the people that made my life

A weird cacophony of  events

I am very grateful and send all love

Rewrite the world

my view was clouded

interconnected

love without borders

I was unaware

North is north and south is south

East is east and west is west

there is no understanding

only domination ,power and money

A dog eat dogs , cruel intention

No heart could last outside their box

shut the lid and be perverse

shut the borders

build the war machines

Man the conqueror

Redeems his own opinion

History teaches

Time replaces

louisa

Castles in the sand

Dancing in the firelight

contours of blackness cast across the sands

Phantoms in robes haunt my nights

faithful hearts and brave shadows of the past

ships of the desert slowly weave there way

Endless sands with uncompromising storms

Kings on golden dunes of valour

Horizons of glistening stars

only he inspirers the the winds of change

only he is the lion and the wolf

connecting east and west

hope of true hearts .
